FrameUp! Help
Help Overview
The first thing you’ll want to do is put a picture in the frame. FrameUp! can accept any image that can be displayed in a web browser. Thus, you can drag images from Safari, iPhoto, the Finder and other applications into FrameUp! To get a picture in the frame, start dragging the picture and the press the Dashboard key to show the Dashboard and drop the picture into FrameUp! Alternatively, you could drag FrameUp! outside Dashboard and then drag a picture into it. To do this, start dragging FrameUp! out of the Dashboard Widget Bar, but before dropping it on the Dashboard, press the Dashboard key to hide Dashboard and then drop it.
Preferences Overview
FrameUp! has a few options that let you tailor its appearance and behavior to your liking. Flip the frame over to the back to discover the options. The frame and mat style options are self explanatory.
- The Refresh Rate preference is useful if you have dragged a webcam image (or any image that will change over time) into FrameUp! The refresh rate specifies how often FrameUp! will reload the image. When a refresh rate is chosen, playback controls will appear over the image when the mouse is in the frame. This lets you pause the refreshing and navigate forward and backward through the underlying WebKit’s cache.
- The Maintain Proportion While Resizing option will constrain the image to its original aspect ratio while resizing the frame.
- Auto Minimize will cause the frame to shrink to just its upper left corner when the mouse exits the frame and when the Dashboard is exited.
- Auto Maximize will cause the image to “maximize” when the mouse is over the frame. How it maximizes depends on whether the frame has been resized. If the frame has not been resized, the image is maximized by doubling its size. If the frame has been resized, the image is maximized by restoring it to its original size.
Useful Tips
The following tips will help you get the most out of FrameUp! You cannot drag an image into the frame when it is auto minimized. Turn off auto minimize before attempting to drag an image into FrameUp!
- If the frame is minimized when a refresh of the image occurs, it will be automatically unminimized.
- A single click on the resize control will restore the image to its original size.
- Double clicking the frame hanger on the back will hang the picture. This is useful if the frame has been positioned in a location to where the “Done” button is off the screen.
